I've lived near the Deleware & Raritain canal for more than 20 years. I've walked and biked sections of the tow path but this year I've decided to walk the entire main canal from Landing Lane Bridge to Trenton. It's a 38 mile hike. My father-in-law and I have basically section hiked all but 5 miles of it between Port Mercer and Trenton. We plan on finishing that two weekends from now when I get back from a business trip. Once that milestone is passed we will turn our attention to the feeder canal path that runs from Trenton to Phillipsburg all along the Delaware River. It's been a blast walking along this historic route. The terrain is flat (sometimes muddy) but it does yield a few surprises here and there. Hiking at this time of year I did not expect to spot much wildlife but we did see quite a few waterfowl including a few Blue Heron. It might not be the Appalacian trail but I'll take it and a walk in the woods any day.

Katia wants to say "Happy New Year!" to everyone in the world. (She may get her own blog someday but for now she can share mine.)
