The World is not Weird Enough

"When I was a kid back in the 60's I heard about kids who taking LSD to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and peope are taking Prozac to make the world normal." -- Hossein Eslambolchi @ Supernova 2005 (Listen here.)

O'Reilly Podcasts

I had no idea O'Reilly had a podcast feed. I've subscribed. There are two podcasts in the feed both by David Pogue. One covers spotlight and the other covers dashboard widgets.

Mmmmm....Mighty Mouse

I knew Apple was going to release a two-button mouse, but this is over the top. Only Apple could release a two button mouse with no buttons. Mighty Mouse has some nice features like a 360 degree mini track ball for scrolling (Why settle for a scroll wheel?) and a couple of extra buttons on the side for launching apps or even activating Expose. Very nice.

It's all about the connections

O'Reilly Connection is a new social job networking site. I was automatically signed up because I'm an O'Reilly Net member. It has a similar set of functionality to LinkedIn without the massive database. Give it time. The database will grow. It's free right now. I've posted a few jobs. Interesting Innovation: tags to describe job skills. No surprise that I'm a big fan of this feature. Interesting feature: You can export your network of connections in FOAF. (Of course what would you do with it once it's out? Where's the linkage between social network sites?) Critical Missing Feature: There is no way to import my address book to look for connections in their database.
