Paper or Plastic?
Over the last 6 months I've been working out various systems for personal productivity. The big issue was what to do about a PDA. I've tried various electronic devices. I've owned everything from an Apple Newton to the Palm Tungsten C. I was always looking for a combined device, a phone/PDA. The Sidekick was pretty close but it's closed nature is just too much for me to swallow. So I've finally settled on paper and pencil. We'll actually what I've done is given up on having an electronic PDA and moved to using a paper based system. My paper based system consists of a Moleskine notebook and 3x5 index cards. I use the Moleskine for general note taking. I use the folder pocket in the book as a repository for a hand full of 3x5 blank index cards which I use mainly for keeping various to do and check lists. I also keep a small 3x5 card printed with a year calendar. I arrived at this by using the Hipster PDA and the Moleskine separately and settled on this hybrid design. It's great. It's compact, efficient, and it never runs out of batteries. I take it everywhere.
